I Think It's Going to Rain Today

Broken windows and empty hallways
A pale dead moon in the sky streaked with gray
Human kindness is overflowing
And I think it's going to rain today

Scarecrows dressed in the latest styles
With frozen smiles to chase love away
Human kindness is overflowing
And I think it's going to rain today

Lonely, lonely
Tin can at my feet
Think I'll kick it down the street
That's the way to treat a friend

Bright before me the signs implore me
To help the needy and show them the way
Human kindness is overflowing
And I think it's going to rain today

--Randy Newman, "I Think It's Going To Rain Today"

Storms come and they go.  When the rain falls and the winds blow, it feels like they will never end.  Only human kindness, love and friendship, however, are everlasting, though the people and forms may change.  This one wild and precious life, just as it is, is perfect.

I will take a break from blogging and the internet for a spell to attend to pressing concerns, and experience life off the grid for a change.  It's only a vacation, however, and not a resignation.
